It didn't do much for people's trust in Spectrasonics. Glossing over the issue as though it didn't exist bothered a lot of people. What should they have done? Fixed the wrapper and let people know that Tril and Atmosphere don't work on Intel, then fess up to the fact that the wrapper didn't work. Trilian and Omnishpere won't recognize the settings of those plugins, so unless you wrote everything down, you're screwed. Now there are thousands of session created with Atmosphere and Trilogy which to this day cannot be opened. They claim the wrapper was as good as it could be. It would have been appropriate to fix the wrapper - it was never fixed.

It would have been appropriate to make this clear, then offer a refund - it was not clear. Many people bought Trilogy (even Atmosphere) not realizing that they'd have to use a wrapper with their Intel Mac. Do you really want to pick at that old scab? A lot of people were/are pretty pissed about the awful wrapper which we were left using for years.
